These terms cover your use of English.me. By using the site, you agree to them.
The service
English.me is a free online English level test, plus a knowledge section with articles about English. You don’t need an account to use it.
Your result
Your result is an estimate of your level on the CEFR scale, worked out from your answers in an online test that nobody supervises. We work hard to make it accurate, but we can’t guarantee it, and it shouldn’t be the only basis for decisions such as admissions or hiring.
Certificates
A certificate records a result of this test. It is a self-assessment, not an official qualification, and it doesn’t replace exams like IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge. Use your own name on it, and don’t present it as an official exam result. We may cancel certificates that are misused.
Names and sharing
Names you add appear on pages that anyone with the link can open. Don’t use a name that is offensive or misleading, or that belongs to someone else. We may remove names that break these rules.
Fair use
Please don’t:
- use bots or scripts to take the test or to copy the questions or articles;
- try to break, overload or get around the site’s security;
- use the site for anything unlawful.
Our content
The questions, audio, articles, design and the English.me name and logo belong to us. You’re welcome to share your result card and links, and to quote short parts of our articles with a link back. Copying the questions or articles in bulk isn’t allowed.
Ads and links
The site may show ads and link to other websites. We aren’t responsible for their content.
No guarantees
English.me is provided “as is”. We don’t promise that it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses that arise from using the site or relying on a result. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under the consumer law where you live.
Changes
We may change or stop parts of the service, and we may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply.
